****A DECOLONISED EDUCATION IS A FREE EDUCATION****
George Osborne is scrapping maintenance grants for the poorest students – a move that disproportionately affects students of colour. So RMFO joined the national student demonstration to stop him, save maintenance grants and fight for a truly decolonised education.
RMFO had their own bloc amongst the Oxford student bloc, offering a space for those who wish to fight education cuts in the context of decolonisation. We marched alongside anyone else who wanted to be part of the decolonisation movement within the protest, and the atmosphere was brilliant.
The National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts is, of course, part of a more global movement to provide free education for all. The FeesMustFall movement in South Africa gained international media attention earlier in the year, and RMFO stands in solidarity with them as well.
